my objective is to upgrade win2k using the winxp cd and a floppy disk that has the winnt.sif and winnt.bat files on it.

my problem is that during a normal winxp install, xp used Windows as the system folder, win2k uses WINNT.

- if i tell winxp to install inside winnt, doesn't this just "delete" the files instead of upgrade?

- also was wondering if there is a way to JUST have Windows as the folder system folder, get rid of WINNT, and still keep the upgrade settings?

second problem is related to the first. during the blue screen install, i still get prompted for the partition information.

- how can I tell winxp to use C: as the default boot partition?

any help would be great. since i'm gonna probably have to finish all this in under 3 days. anyways, i'm off to find more info on this.
