dns server?

I created a dns server as a member server, removed all it's root hints and does not use forwarder.

my connection is adsl and I set the dns server to use my local dns server instead of obtain an dns server automatically.

my question is why can I still do lookups for external site such as "www.google.com"?

the root hint is removed, and it is not set as a forwarder, it shouldn't know what server to query.

Any chance that some of those sites are cached in DNS?

If it is a Windows DNS server you can run ipconfig /flushdns from a command prompt to empty the cache.
