Hi-

Am trying to figure out why Microsoft Terminal Services and Web Client Network are not displayed under "Entire Network".

When I use the original XP MCE2005 install DVD, these are displayed in Explorer.

When I created my own install DVD, they were missing.

The only option that I did not load was msnexplr

you have to be connected to a windows server system for those options to show up, windows wont display them if they dont exist, or if it cannot find them on the local network...

so, the question is, are they supposed to be there, ie: are you running your computer in domain mode connected to a windows server(or at least one that is running the proper services)?

Hmmm. I am attached to the same workgroup (no domain) as my other computers - and when I installed XP on them, Microsoft Terminal Services and Web Client Network are shown.

Now - I understand that MCE2005 does NOT allow connection to a domain. Do you know if these "services?" are only useful if I am connected to a domain?

Hmm, im not sure about it not being able to conenct to domains, depends on if they based it on xp home or pro...

still, you are correct, whilst the terminal services network is pretty much only applicable to domain based computers, or at least those connected to a Win2k3 or Win2k server..., web client network is applicable to non-domain based workstations, but i've never actually seen anyone bother to hook up an active directory and/or vpn to use it outside of a organisational network...
