keithy397 Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Hi,I have w2k pro and I'm not entirely sure it is the os that's the problem. However, until recently, when I switched the computer on and booting up I was presented with a dialogue box (connect, cancel, disconnect) enabling me to click 'connect' and hey presto, everything ok and programs connecting with no problems. The dialogue box has now disappeared and none of my programs can access the internet until I open the btinternet/yahoo (my isp) browser and sign on with them. I never used to have to do this, indeed, I very rarely did it. Can anyone explain or inform me how to retrieve the dialogue box and make my life easier! I have a broadband connection with a Thomson SpeedTouch USB modem.Cheers.
KevinA Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Hi there Keith, 'fraid I can't help you but I have a similar problem. I use w2k pro, and my ISP is BT or should that now be BTYahoo who knows, who cares. Anyway the thing that happens to me is every now and again (I use ISDN dialup by the way) the connect info disappears and I have to re-type my user name and password. The number it dials hasn't changed nor have any other settings...strange, only recently started to do this. I can live with it but it is tiresome.
keithy397 Posted January 19, 2005 Author Posted January 19, 2005 Hi KevinA,The only differences we have then is I'm adsl and it's the access to internet. Once I've signed on thru' btyahoo my connection is established and I'm ok. It's the actual initial connection. I never used to have to go through the procedure of signing on with btyahoo, just clicked the dialogue box as it was booting up and everything was cushty! Weird.
