johnus100 Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 I am having problems on start-up, it doesn't load desktop icons, I need to shut down 2 or 3 times, then it finally loads, but I also get several windows opening, such as the system configuation editor, winnt.win.ini, and winnt.system.ini. Any help I would greatly appreciate.
tguy Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 Sounds like a corrupt profile. Try logging in as another administrative user, deleting the profile where the icons will not load, and then logging in as that user. A new profile should be created. If this is happening after the OS loads for the first time, then it may be something is wrong with your installation setup.
johnus100 Posted January 10, 2005 Author Posted January 10, 2005 Thanks tguy..Startup had worked fine, it started after Norton deleted a virus...I was setup as the administrator on this computer, so would I need to create a new administrator profile before or after deleting the existing administrator profile? Thanks for your help.
