Windows media Player not responding

Recommended Posts

I got my laptop computer 1 year ago. (My 1st computer). Dell installed Windows XP. I had Windows media player 9 and liked it. I burned lots of CD's and played them in my car.

Last August I installed SP2. Then Windows would not load at all. Microsoft helped me to take it off of my computer.

Sometime in there I upgraded to windows media player 10 (I'm not sure if I did this before I installed SP2 or after.)

My Problem:

Windows media Player 10 does not respond. It will play a song but if I touch anything it hangs up and stops responding. I had successfully burned some CD's to play in my car while using media player 9. Now I cannot do anything with the player. And I can no longer burn CD's.

Microsoft has been no help whatsoever.

I have removed windows media player 10 and tried to download player 9 several times. Each time I try this it gets to a certain point and says it is aware that I have a newer version of windows media player on my computer and now this program will exit....t gives me no option but to exit.

So I can't even go back to using media Player 9.

Thank tou for ANY help you can give me. I really do appreciate your time.

try downloading media player 10 and installing it again, there is really no means of installing media player 9 after 10 has been installed. That may solve your problem. Media player 10 probably got installed with SP2 is my guess.

Also for buring your cd's you can use nero or roxio for that.

Tried that. I have media player 10 now and it always stops responding.

Is nero or Roxio free? I have Sonic Record Now but can't even get it to work anymore.

sounds to me like you removed something you shouldnt have when you got rid of SP2, my reccomendation is to goto the win update site, and update your computer, keeping away from SP2 if thats something you dont want, and then reinstall WM10

doing a windows update is a good idea. and then reinstalling media player. Also if you want you can also use alternative players like Winamp for example, or realplayer.

Nero and roxio are not free, but I am sure you can find a serial someplace, look in google.com.
