cpufiddler Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 I've got a problem with XP Pro. I've got two programs that start from the HKCU/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run key, msn messenger and shareaza. They consistently fail to start, although all other programs start as normal. I've used msconfig and disabled all startups except shareaza and msn messenger, which still fail to start. I'm assuming this means i've got a damaged registry. Unfortunately i've got system restore turned off due to temporary space constraints. Any ideas, anyone? - Thanks
tguy Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 You could uninstall and reinstall the applications or if they are Installshield apps. you could try a repair.
cpufiddler Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 Already tried the repair method. Uninstalled and reinstalled shareaza, manually deleted the key and let shareaza remake it. Same with msn messenger. I get the feeling the keys are not being run rather than incorrect info there stopping the process.
