task scheduler noes not show application

I have a problem with the task scheduler in windows XP prof.(sp2)

The sheduled task is started thru the task scheduler, butnever shows up on the desktop. The windows task manager shows the task as a process but not as an appliation.

example: calc.exe is scheduled by the task scheduler at 3pm. Calc.exe starts exactly at 3pm, but it does not appear on the desktop.The task scheduler shows the program running, it acts like a background process.

The problem is discussed in Q253942 (windows publication) but says that this problem only occurs if sysprep was used to create a master image.

THIS IS NOT THE CASE---for me. My problem is on a new installation. I looked at the registry for the indicated bad entry in the appropriate notation, but the key does not show a bad entry.
