prathapml Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 You actually don't need to download. You need it only if you don't have it, but you already HAVE it. We'll now use your Windows XP CD to get it:1. Take a look at your CD after putting it in the drive.2. Need to browse to "\SUPPORT\TOOLS" folder.3. Open the file named "deploy.cab" and extract to where you want it.4. Go to the folder where it was extracted and run setupmgr.exe5. Now it should be fine.If that doesn't work either, then this really stumps things. Take deploy.cab to a friend's PC (must have win2k/XP/2k3) and try running it there - that will tell you for certain about whether setupmgr is corrupted or whether its your OS gone bad.Lastly, lets check whether your setupmgr really is stopping halfway through - please post your winnt.sif here (remove CD key from it). Maybe you just assumed that its not a full file.Hoping this helps...
cntry Posted December 9, 2004 Author Posted December 9, 2004 Tried all of the above, still same thing. here is what I get:;SetupMgrTag[Data] AutoPartition=1 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes"[unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=No TargetPath=\WINDOWS[GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=XX EncryptedAdminPassword=Yes OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=15 OemSkipWelcome=1[userData] ProductKey=XX FullName="lucky" OrgName="" ComputerName=C3P0[TapiLocation] CountryCode=1 AreaCode=000[identification] JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP[Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=YesStops here and hangs??Has me stumped.cntry
prathapml Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 I think its relevant here to ask:How do you know its hanged? (so that we can find out what's happening) I mean...On what basis do you arrive at the conclusion, that it has hanged. If nothing else works, use an alternative creator for your winnt.sif and customize it as you go along. The customizing needs to be done manually, anyway - see the ref.chm in deploy.cab for customizing.
cntry Posted December 10, 2004 Author Posted December 10, 2004 Waited aprox. 35 minutes on an amd 1.5 box running good? Assuming this is a hang. Will try the other creator. Thanks, cntry
