File-Type Icon Not Changing

For some reason, I'm having a couple of odd problems with Win2k3. I am running Web Server as a Workstation. Since installing the system, .htm, .html and etc do not show any icon. I have gone in through "Folder Options" and changed the icon definition any number of ways in the system, but the icon never changes, either in the "File Types" seciton, or in the actual display.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Its a real annoyance when trying to search for specific files. I could do a re-insatll, but that seems overkill for what should be a simple problem.

Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

So you mean to say that your file-types are having the wrong icon showing up.

1. Check that the file-associations are correctly setup.

2. If file associations is proper, then delete this file:

C:\Documents and Settings\Vaidh\Local Settings\Application Data\IconCache.db

That will clear the icon cache and re-build it at next boot.

Do post back on whether the problem was solved or not.

Thank you for that option. I removed the file as you suggested and restarted the system, but the problem persists. The weird thing is, no matter what I change the icon to, including icons that I use for other Extensions, it never shows up. I may just have to re-install the system at some point as this will bug me for days... but I hope someone else has another possible suggestion.
