We have a lot of traveling users here that complain that Windows tries to synchronize when they are not here but have an internet connection at a hotel or at home. Is there a way to set offline files to only syncronize when it sees a specific network?

Yes there is - kind of. I work for a large company and we run into this issue when users visit remote offices, and the laptop can communicate with the user's home server, where they sync their "Offline Files". The problem is, the laptop does not care if the WAN connection is only 128KB, so everything is VERY SLOW to open. Use the attached BAT file with the CSCCMD.EXE tool from the 2003 Resource Kit. By replacing the <SERVERNAME>\<USERS SHARE> in the BAT file to the correct network path that the user's Offline Files reside, you manually force the laptop offline, and it will not sync until the user MAUNALLY syncronizes their files.
