I REALLY hope you can help me out here. I have been crawling the web for a solution but so far found none that works.

The story:

I have a Windows 2003 Terminal Server, running in application mode.

I have users on this server, running some fairly complex profiles and setups, reinstall is one option that I REALLY want to avoid.

Anyway, sometime after the recent security updates from MS, my users started reporting that some websites could not be browsed in IE. Ransom it seemed, www.google.com was on of them.

I started looking at DNS and so on, testing profiles, testing new users and so on to make sure the problem was not related to anthing else than IE.

Installing Firefox (which is NOT an option to run in the long term) everything works like a charm.

My question is this: How do I go about REINSTALLING IE on a Windows 2003 Terminal Server? I've seen all the MS KB articles on how to do that on XP but have yet to find one that describes how to do this on Windows 2003 server.

I have tried editing the registry where Windows sets a value of 1 for IE= installed and 0 for not installed - and 2003 (upon a reboot) tells me that IE has been removed and wether I want to clean up my settings for IE. Problem is that I CAN'T launch the IE6setup.exe - no matter what I do it tells me that I already have a newer version of IE installed.

I am on the verge of insanity here - I really hope you can help me out!

try running the system file checker, it may prompt for the installation cd so have it handy .

sfc /scannow

or try this first...

on C:\program files\Internet Explorer\Setup double click on setup.exe, that will start the ie installer program and ask if you want to repair it.

Not about to run fixes endorsed by MS for XP on a 2003 TS.
