Talaxian Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 I installed the winHEC 4074 build onto a 5205-S503.It's system specs are P4 2.0, 32MB Nvidia GeForceGo, 512Ram.Installation is fine, however installing the Toshiba common modules needed for the Toshiba apps doesn't work. The installation starts and then disappears ending the setup process. Without the common modules, you cannot get to the power, speed-stepping or most importantly function keys to increase the brightness etc.I tried using compatibility mode (XP) on the setup.exe's for the Toshiba software and it errors out. The latest BIOS is installed and other drivers work fine. The latest updates on Toshiba's site for this model are bluetooth updates for XP SP2. The release date on the common modules is late 2002. Perhaps Toshiba has to update the modules again to get them to work on Longhorn—Until then….I have no interface to the batteries, nor can I increase the brightness which stays at a default low and I would so much like to see this Jade theme in better a light!!Does anyone know of generic controls to install that would give you access to the “Fn” key so brightness can be adjusted ? Any other work arounds —suggestions would be appreciated. TIA
