FAT64 Posted October 9, 2004 Posted October 9, 2004 Suddenly my All Users Folder has the Hidden attribute set, and it is greyed out and I cannot change it. Anyone got any ideas?
FAT64 Posted October 12, 2004 Author Posted October 12, 2004 XP Pro. My All Users folder has suddenly become one of the protected system files.
ChunkDog Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 ok, first go into windows explorer, then go to Tools ----> Folder Options, click on the view tab, under advanced settings untick the "Use Simple Files Sharing (Recomended) , now navagate to your all users profile directory under documents and settings, right click on the folder and select properties, then click on the Security tab, you can change who has access to that folder on a per user basis, given what you have explained, only system has full control, make sure your user account has full control, or just give everyone full control.
FAT64 Posted October 12, 2004 Author Posted October 12, 2004 I'm afraid I've already thought of that. And it doesn't work. No matter what I do the Hidden attribute is greyed out and I simply cannot change it.
ChunkDog Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 You might want to check out PEBuilder from Bart, here is his webite: http://www.nu2.nu/, you're going to want to use a plugin called XPE at this website: http://oss.netfarm.it/winpe/, if you boot from the cd you created and access you drive, you should be able to change the attribute from there.
wilsonmpp Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 You can also try taking ownership of the folder.
FAT64 Posted October 13, 2004 Author Posted October 13, 2004 You're not going to believe how I fixed this. Are you sitting comfortably? At a DOS prompt I typed ...C:\Documents and Settings>attrib alluse~1 -s -hand low and behold, SORTED!!!
