windows 2000 hot "reboot" to activate registry...

Featured Replies

.. modifications.

Hi,

does anyone know how to "reboot", activate registry modifications that normally require a cold reboot, without actually performing a cold reboot?

Some registry modifications are activated immediately but some require a reboot.

Thanks

I have been searchin for the same kind of tool / procedure.... only thing every1 is talking about is killing explorer for some entries in the reg, however that usualy doesnt solve issues that require reboots...

Dunno if it is by design it wont work as i can guess every1 in here has had the same question.

Actually, these registry entries do appear to have taken effect even though I didn't reboot my system! I removed the recent docs, recent docs history, help function, ... from the start menu and I noticed a few minutes ago that these are now gone.

Weird, guess I'm running a windows system(?)

I'm on windows 2000 professional 5.00.2195 service pack 3.

Or maybe these do after all not require a reboot to activate but somehow windows was dead slow???

May sound weird but sometimes it seems like you have to "shake" windows into action.

I've removed some other outdated system info like the shell, new files... and the incorrect software installation list.

Huh, long live windows, where's my Longhorn!!!??? Or should that be some penguin?
