Using a script to simulate a hardware failure

My boss has assigned a project to me.

He wants a program to alternately simulate hardware failure on 1 of 2 Fibre Channel HBAs in my server.

I have checked into Scriptomatic, but that only seems to return information.

Can this be done using WMI?

Or is there another, easier, way to do this programmatically?

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.
