Does anyone know how to strip out or stop installing outlook express during an untended installation.

You can do it with nLite. OE will be removed from the CD and will not be installed.

You can also remove other apps with nLite, like MovieMaker, msn, WMP, etc.

Warning: When you remove OE you cannot work with .MHT files. I work with them regulary, so i needed OE. I removed only the exe file and changed default mail client to Pegasus Mail.

I didn't know that. Strange as MHT files are used by Internet Explorer... but not as strange because it's microsoft

However, I don't use these files cause I'm using Firefox.

This is what I do, and most others did - its the simpler option, and allows you to install OE later on if you want it.

    msmsgs=off
    WMAccess=off
    WMPOCM=off
    msnexplr=off
    OEAccess=off
    IEAccess=off

You need to have the above code in winnt.sif, and it will work only if you have merged SP1 or SP2 into your XP. The individual components above are self-explanatory, set it to off (to not install) and on (to have it installed).

OEAccess is Outlook Express

msmsgs and WMaccess refer to windows messenger.

WMPOCM is Windows Media Player.

msnexplr is MSN Explorer

IEAccess is Internet Explorer

Since I don't use OE as well, nor the other components I've mentioned above, I turn off all those, and those won't get installed during setup now. If you want it later on, you can go to "Add/Remove Programs" and get it installed back.
