How to tweak input focus ?

Is there a way to tell Windoze (2K, XP) not to change the input focus automaticly ?

e.g. I was running XPCREATE in the background on my machine, and it kept on stealing the input focus, making it almost impossible to type untill XPCREATE had finished.
