XP cmd file no good on 2K

I have successfully done an XP sp4 unattended install with the basic pretty stuff added, but my attempts to do the same in 2K have failed. The 2K version installs, but the start.cmd file in [GuiRunOnce] will not run, nor will it run by [setupParams]. Everything in commands.txt runs. Is there a difference in the batch file methods between these two operating systems? The start.cmd file is the same as for XP.I have searched and find no good possibilities except maybe lfn vs. 8.3.

This is not my area of expertise, and search has not been helpful. Any input will be appreciated.
