Hi guys

I'm just wondering if someone can guide me to solve my problem

it works just fine but for choosing where to install windows

it doesnt give me the option to format the drive i'm installing windows to and i want that to appear to me during setup

it just asks me for which drive then it says that windows folder detected would you like to choose another folder or delete the contents of the current one

where is the format drive option?

thanks in advance

Here's how mine is setup. It allows you to select the partitions as well as file system to use.

You are at the 2nd menu?

1st menu is

1. Setup XP

2. create partition

3. delete partition

you must delete the partition first. Then setup XP.

I think you maybe choosing setup xp first?

your sif should be ok?

actually am trying to install over another windows, in past when i tried this as soon as i chose the partition that had windows on it i think it prompted me to format it, am not sure but i believe this is what used to happen, i didnt have to delete partition the set up windows in the unpartitioned space

True, if it is unpartitioned, then you would select setup xp first. and it would do it for you.

I think I know what you are trying to do.....

Basically the partitioning tool during text-mode setup allows to choose partition to install to and goes ahead - it does not offer the option of formatting (to FAT32/NTFS) the way you'd normally get. If you want to format, you're forced to delete the partition and then make it again - only then the "format as" screen is shown.

Am I right? :)

Well, there's no way around this problem. One solution is to use WinPE (in conjunction with diskpart scripts), but that brings in more complications. So currently, "grin-and-bear-it" is the policy I'm using.
