Uno3whO Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Here's how mine is setup. It allows you to select the partitions as well as file system to use.[Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" AutomaticUpdates=yes[unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes UnattendSwitch="Yes" OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS FileSystem=* KeyboardLayout="US"
MHz Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 @hUmAnzZYou are at the 2nd menu?1st menu is1. Setup XP2. create partition3. delete partitionyou must delete the partition first. Then setup XP.I think you maybe choosing setup xp first?your sif should be ok?
hUmAnzZ Posted September 3, 2004 Author Posted September 3, 2004 actually am trying to install over another windows, in past when i tried this as soon as i chose the partition that had windows on it i think it prompted me to format it, am not sure but i believe this is what used to happen, i didnt have to delete partition the set up windows in the unpartitioned space
MHz Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 True, if it is unpartitioned, then you would select setup xp first. and it would do it for you.

prathapml Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 @hUmAnzZI think I know what you are trying to do.....Basically the partitioning tool during text-mode setup allows to choose partition to install to and goes ahead - it does not offer the option of formatting (to FAT32/NTFS) the way you'd normally get. If you want to format, you're forced to delete the partition and then make it again - only then the "format as" screen is shown.Am I right? Well, there's no way around this problem. One solution is to use WinPE (in conjunction with diskpart scripts), but that brings in more complications. So currently, "grin-and-bear-it" is the policy I'm using.
