Duplicate/triplicate files after install of Window

Featured Replies

After install of Window XP Pro SP2 I found many many duplicate/triplicate files such as:

C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386\sp2.cab

C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\sp2.cab

C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\…..\sp2.cab

C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386\sp1.cab

C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\sp1.cab

etc,.etc.

Please, what files/folders may I safely delete to recover the wasted space on my C drive?

I would keep them all actually. If you use ntfs, just hard link to the other copies and you won't waste any space w/ the duplicates. Hard Link Magic is a free GUI for hard linking and is very good.

(You actually don't need any of them though windows will complain if you change your system config or add new hardware.)
