What can I do, besides a bios upgrade and check for the drivers????

Telling him not to type in caps does not seem to help him any,

I would try and extract a new copy of savrt.sys file from the original cd first and see if that helps, if you have another working computer there, see if they have the same file and copy it from that machine too.
