Tracer Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 My system has been running fine lately but the start menu has been lagging. I don't know if this is another explorer.exe problem or what but it gets annoying. It seems whenever I click on the programs, it will take 5 secs to display everything. Anyone have a fix?
prathapml Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Try each of the below in order of desperation: (if #1 don't help, use #2, then #3)1. Try closing unnecessary programs in the system tray.2. Close all open programs.3. Use Task Manager in processes Tab to kill explorer.exe, and then click "New Task" and run "explorer" again.Hopefully, that should solve it. Otherwise, increase and set the upper/lower limits of your swap-file to be the same.
Grenache Posted August 13, 2004 Posted August 13, 2004 Have a look at:http://www.petri.co.il/speed_up_start_menu_in_windows_xp.htmI set the reg key, and it made a huge difference!RgdsG
