adprep for 2k domain

i have searched for about a week now on m$ and some other web sites to no avail. here is my problem, i hope someone can help.

i am trying to upgrade win2k domain server to win2k3. i have ran the adprep /forestprep command without any problem. but when i run the adprep /domainprep command it tells me that i must first run the /forestprep command. which i already have. im wondering if there is just a registry key or something that didnt get changed and /domainprep thinks that /forestprep hasnt been run.

i looked at the adprep logs, and i see no errors. but i realy dont know what to look for other than a big ole "danger will robinson" or "ERROR".

so please oh please help me.

yea!!!! i got it. the problem was that global catalog was not checked in ntds settings.
