Windows Explorer startup folder

Featured Replies

i find this really annoying. whenever i start up windows explorer in winXP it always starts in the 'My Documents' folder. Is there a way to change this?

Its set to open up in My Documents. You can edit the shortcut to make it open elsewhere

e.g. your shortcut properties says the following:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe

change it to:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe c:\

And click on OK, next time you start Windows Explorer it will view the C:\ drive, but the folder list doesn't appear.

There are extra switches you can put in the shortcut that I believe will make the folder pane appear, which is discussed here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;en-us;Q307856
