Changing source files location

I have a reg file which sets the source files location (to a local partition and folder - f:\xphost\i386 for this box), and normally runs through the prepare command script (start of runonceex), but I'm wondering if there's a simple way to have it configured so when the GUI mode starts, it will look to the directory on the HDD, rather than the CD.

Or would it be easier to just use a bootable (somehow) USB thumb drive with the winnt.bat file on it to run the unattended install directly from the source directory?
