how does the HKCurrentUser registry works ?

Featured Replies

Hi all !

Here is my question : can someone explain how the HKCurrentUser works ? actually, I repacked an installation of client acces express (AS400 client) into a MSI file with the soft of Veritas (freeware)

I can have a look to the registry key set up with the program : there is many HKCU key. The trouble is that after the installation of the software, I have to make the configuration stuff. All those stuff go into the HKCU hive.

I switch the loggued user trying to merge the registry file. But nothing was set in the registry in the HKCU ...

If I understand what it is explained in the (very good) site, I would have to make the HKCU merge directly during the install in the cmdlines.txt file. Is it possible to make MSI install from there ?

Thx for your help !!!!

Raphael.

Dont quote me on this, but i think that the HKCU thing comes from HKUSERS\Somthing..... So HKCU is loaded from HKUSERS every time a new person logs on..

^^ This is how it works in windows PE anyway..

Chris.
