Stahlherz Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 Hello,i would be happy, if you could teach me, how to change the installation-path of XP.I don't want it to be c:\windows, should be more like c:\win-xppro or alike.I use a DELL-Installation-CD on a laptop and don't have a clue, what all this tech-talk about unattended and such means. So please be patient with me, don't use too many special words. cheers and thanks for your help!
HyDeNCiTy Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 When u install XP it asks u what u wanna name the Directory... I don't think u can rename the directory once XP is installed...
ojai00 Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 With the Dell installation CD, I don't think you have a choice of where you want to install Windows to. It sets up the computer up to the point where you enter your user name and organization. This type of installation is called a SYSPREP where Dell builts an image of how they want the OS to look, then image it using a tool called SYSPREP.What that means is that the directory is pre-determined even before you get the computer.Hope this explains it.
Stahlherz Posted April 22, 2004 Author Posted April 22, 2004 Thanks, ojai00.That explains it pretty much. Let's see, what DELL says to that.Have a nice day.
