Product Key Problems

So, I reckon I've successfully created an unattended XP SP1 slipstreamed CD. I have two retail copies of XP Pro with sp1 slipstreamed, so I merely used the files on one of the CDs to create my unattended CD.

I got to the stage where I had thought I had it complete, so I tried testing it on a VMware virtual PC. Everything was going well, until it tries to register my key. It won't take any key I throw at it, I've tried both my retail keys, and "other" keys but I get..

The Product Id you entered is not valid

I can't understand why, any ideas folks? I hope you can help cos I was planning to format today
