SP4 after hotfixes?

Featured Replies

So I've been putting off installing SP4 and have been doing all of the other critical updates from windows updated for a while. Now I wonder if installing SP4 will undo some of the earlier fixes. Will it do this? If so, will it be smart enough to put them back in Windows Update to redownload?

SP4 includes all patches from previous service packs. I've installed SP4 on my machine for several months now, and it has ran, and is still running, flawlessly.

Right but there have been post SP4 patches that can also install on top of SP3. SP4 might actually have older files than SP3 in some cases due to these hotfixes.

If the hotfix is already installed, SP4 should bypass installing that hotfix again. But I could be wrong! :)

After installing SP4, go to the Windows Update site and see if the hotfixes show up again as download options.
