I've Win XP Professional with all the updates on a new computer, Norton Internet Security 2004, Norton SystemWorks 2004 Pro etc.

For some reason my USB connected DSL modem power stays sometimes on allthough I shut down the computer and the computer power is off. If I don't notice to unplug the modem, it can't find all the necessary settings to create a connection.

And now for a few times the Windows has not been able to perform the automatic shutdown (Windows is shutting down..)

Any help would be nice.

TIA

Go into Device Manager > USB Serial Bus Controllers, and change all the properties of each USB Root Hub via the Power Management tab, tick the box "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

See if this helps :)
