It appears that my Windows Installer may be corrupt.

Issues I'm having:

Uninstall not locating the uninstall log

Problems updating Office 2003 and cannot do a repair of.

How can I replace the Windows Installer? (note: I have tried a Win XP SP1a slipstreamed repair)

Should I have the windows file protection disabled during unregistering/renaming of the windows installer files and where can I obtain the original/new files?

windows installer files are in %systemroot%\windows\system32

> msiexec.exe

>msi.dll

no need to replace these files . just pop your office2003 cdrom in the cd-drive and run setup again when steup starts . Select repair option from the setup menu

I have tried that w/o success. I receive basically the same error message and again, I have troubles uninstalling other app's that I were installed using the installer.
