JimmyS Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 (edited) Hi guysI'm having an issue. My laptop which just got an SSD is taking its time to shutdown. I have followed this guide: but exchanged the "boot" with "shutdown" to get a log for it.Log is included.I can see the services.exe is taking a long time to shutdown. Is there anyway i can find out which process is taking forever to close?RegardsJimmysummary.xml Edited February 3, 2012 by JimmyS
MagicAndre1981 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 shutdown is ok: <timing shutdownTime="8383" servicesShutdownDuration="4136">complete shutdown takes 8.3 seconds and shutting doewn the services takes 4.1 seconds.
JimmyS Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 i see, but the actually time is over 2mins, i timed it with a stop watch....is there no indication of this in the log?
MagicAndre1981 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 nope. Windows thinks the shutdown is done, so it is a hardware issue. Try to load the default BIOS settings.
JimmyS Posted February 5, 2012 Author Posted February 5, 2012 (edited) Tried to load Bios defaults. No diceRan several tests on the SSD. NO errors there.Memtest+ 4,2 done, Nothing to find here either.Running virus scan with Dr. Web, Cure It, lets hope for some results here. Edited February 5, 2012 by JimmyS
MagicAndre1981 Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Update the BIOS if possible. Which motherboard do you use?
JimmyS Posted February 5, 2012 Author Posted February 5, 2012 Its a laptop, its an Asus N53SV, updated bios to the latest think its 1,4just did a reformat. The shutdown time is fast again now...Just have to locate the faulty driver now i guess.
