Windows 7, slow shutdown (2½mins)

Hi guys

I'm having an issue.

My laptop which just got an SSD is taking its time to shutdown.

I have followed this guide: but exchanged the "boot" with "shutdown" to get a log for it.

Log is included.

I can see the services.exe is taking a long time to shutdown.

Is there anyway i can find out which process is taking forever to close?

shutdown is ok:


 <timing shutdownTime="8383" servicesShutdownDuration="4136">

complete shutdown takes 8.3 seconds and shutting doewn the services takes 4.1 seconds.

i see, but the actually time is over 2mins, i timed it with a stop watch....

is there no indication of this in the log?

nope. Windows thinks the shutdown is done, so it is a hardware issue. Try to load the default BIOS settings.

Tried to load Bios defaults. No dice

Ran several tests on the SSD. NO errors there.

Memtest+ 4,2 done, Nothing to find here either.

Running virus scan with Dr. Web, Cure It, lets hope for some results here.

Update the BIOS if possible. Which motherboard do you use?

Its a laptop, its an Asus N53SV, updated bios to the latest think its 1,4

just did a reformat. The shutdown time is fast again now...

Just have to locate the faulty driver now i guess.
