LittleRed
Hello. I am working on this Compaq C700 and when the battery is in place,on boot it displays 4 screens on each side of the display with abar about 1-1/2 inches wide separating the 2 sides. In order toresolve this problem you have to shut down the machine and pull the batteryand hold the power button down for 1 minute. That fix worked as long as thebattery is not in the machine.. Fires up fine without the battery. Also triedHooking an external monitor up to it. Worked fine but now the laptop displayshows the 4 screens all the time even without the battery in place.. Sometimes it does and sometime it doesnt. There really is no ryme or reasone for the way it is acting except that something is going out.At first i thought it was just a bad battery... That doesnt seem to be the problem.I was also going to see if maybe it is a bad battery driver, but i cant do that without knowing what the last 2 and 3 numbers mean at the end of the machines model no. There seem to be a couple of numbers at the end there that are no where on the machine or in the Bios..There are about 5 different 2 digit numbers at the end of my machine Model,http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/pfinder?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&tool=&query=Compaq+Presario+C700#N29The other problem may be with the inverter. but i need to know if it is a software issue first. And if it is worth tearing it down to get to that. Also i upgraded all of the device drivers throughout... Using DriverPackSolutionThe last thing the person was doing on the PC PC was playing a couple of games.1. Lost Inca Prophecy2. 4 ElementsAlso did a recovery from the recovery partition that came from the factory...To no avail...I would say that i am a mid level tech.Is there anyone that can help me with this particular problem. Your help would be greatlyappreciated...Thank you...! Compaq Presario C700Service Tag: C714NR NB PC USSN.
