ntuser.dat appearing in %systemroot% ?

hi all,

having a problem(?) whereby ntuser.dat and ntuser.log are appearing in the %systemroot% folder and I have no idea why.

uphc is installed.

have searched the registry for instances of ntuser.dat and profile etc to see if there is an odd setting there.

google is not being particularly helpful either, or perhaps more likely I am using the wrong terms to search.

wondered if anyone had any ideas?

apologies is %systemdrive% and not %systemroot% not had enough coffee

Check this reg entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
ProfilesDirectory=

It should be (by default) "%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings".
