Hi all,

I am having a bit of a strange DNS issue. Here is our setup

DD-WRT Router, with Port Forwarding and DYNDNS Address (10.10.x.3)

WIndows 2003 Server Running DNS, Active Directory (10.10.x.223)

PBX / Internal CRM/ Proprietary Company Website (10.10.x.2)

Now on the PBX we have opened port 80 and run apache on it for numerous things (restricted apache). We use our DYNDNS address to access it. All of the networks DNS requests go through the Windows Server due to Active Directory.

The problem we are having is that while on the local office network (10.10.x.x) we cannot access our public IP address, or our DYNDNS website. If I enter in the servers address (10.10.x.2), I am able to access it fine inside the LAN. The problem is our company IM openfire, and CRM system need to be constantly changed depending on whether you are in the office or not.

Can any one make some suggestions? I believe it is a DNS problem with the Windows Server that is causing the problem.

Thanks.

-Dave

You need to allow and configure your dns server to either resolve directly public addresses or to forward all other domain dns queries to an external dns. The second solution is the most secure.
