Increasing XMS block size for DOS programs

For example, in pure DOS and apparently in Win XP you can allocate very large chunks of XMS at once. On Win98 (possible others too) you are limited to 2048KB per handle. Is there any way to change the block size when Windows has kicked in ? In pure DOS I can allocate a 64MB block if I want with single handle.

The XMS memory tab in program properties only adjust total amount of XMS available to the program, but for block size I have no options...

...just trying to find a way to make my life easier so I won't have to juggle between several XMS blocks in my program
