netwarrior
Hey all, Actually i want to create Standby/Failover Server for Microsoft Terminal Server 2003/2008. That means the Failover server will have the same configuration as of the Live server, but it will remain offline, and if the Live server fails, The standby is brought up. The problem is of CALs, if i configure the standby server with same number of users as of live server, i have to purchase CALs for standby server as well. Is there any possibility that i can create the Failover Terminal Server without purchasing additional Client Access Licenses?
cluberti
Depends on the TS CALs you purchased, but user CALs are per device or user, not server (external connector or service provider CALs are different, but I'm assuming you purchased per user or per device TS CALs). You'd need licensing for the Server OS and a license for the TS on it, but the client CALs would not need to be doubled up.
