Assigning Windows shortcut keys using (vb)script

I would like to create a (command or vbs) script that assigns Windows shortcut keys to the program links in Windows Start Menu (Ctrl+Shift+W for Word, Ctrl+Shift+D for our remote control software) so I can include this in the unattended setup of our computers. I've tried to find information on how to do this, but unfortunately I didn't find anything helpful so far. Does anyone here have experience in doing this?
