kajwar Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Hi all,I,m running bilingual (English and Arabic ) win xp2.Everything is OK when I use the default English language .My problem is when I change the language to Arabic ,I notice a long delay scrolling some folders, especially the "system32" folder. This slowness causes a memory leak .Friends' suggestions :1- upgrade to win xp sp3 . Same problem happens.2- check if you had a desktop.ini there.I did check it and found it "blank" !? .WHY IS IT EMPTY ? IS THIS REALY MY PROBLEM ?Could anybody show me the default contents of this desktop.ini file , please ?thanks, kajwar
kajwar Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Hi -X- ,Appreciate your feedback. Do you have any idea Why does this slowness happen in my PC ? It makes me mad !?.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Font issues?Just a shot in the dark but do you have the defualt Arabic fonts installed properly?
kajwar Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 Hi Kelsenellenelvian,First thank you -X- . Fonts ?OK...How do i know if the defualt Arabic fonts are installed properly ?Some info :1- I have added some more Arabic fonts to my system . Is this sacred ? I can delete them .2- The desktop shortcuts are also slow when refreshing them .I have rebuilt and deleted the iconcache but nothing happened .Still slow .The big question is why it is not happening when I use the English one ??? thanks@khalil@
Kelsenellenelvian Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 (edited) Grab this little app and run it once. (It is just a wonderfull little app to re-register system fonts and correct any font-style errors)Thanks to code65k for creating it.As for why English doesn't do it?My guess is a couple of reasons.Windows is primarily English based.Arabic is a unicode language and XP's native unicode support lacks.More info on fontreg:http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6729 Edited July 29, 2010 by Kelsenellenelvian
