Guest Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 (edited) I got a VM I was running some tests on and KB956572 and KB979683 continue showing up in WU. I've have checked the binaries on the system and they are all the right versions. I've installed the updates manually but they still show up in WU.I have attached the log files. Hopefully someone can figure this out. KB956572.txtKB979683.txtThanks Edited June 18, 2010 by -X-
Guest Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 (edited) Found the solution on the web. http://forums.techarena.in/windows-update/1182636.htm#post4421290The updates needed an /o switch(Overwrite OEM files without prompting). This is not an OEM system as that posts says but it worked. Guest Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I believe the /o switch causes the installer to replace existing files regardless of file version, such as newer files installed by some OEM Windows discs like Dell's. The standard behavior is to replace only if the installer's files are newer than the existing files.
