Is it dead?

ok when i turn on my computer it goes to a blue screen with the windows logo on it then says-

Checking file system on c

type NTFS

The volume is dirty

Inserting an index entry into index$0 of file 13285

then the last line repeats over and over -it never goes anywhere

i did try to go into safe mode- it does the same thing

what could be the problem?

It is an ntfs error which might be corrected booting from xp cd to the recovery console and then doing a chkdsk /p.
