n1gh7sh1f7 Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Hi all, I've got a problem with a netbook, specifically an Aspire One D250. I've installed Windows XP on it from a USB stick i've set up, all went well. I can install any driver (lan, wlan, audio, video) but right after i install the intel chipset drivers, i get a blue screen on reboot, 0x7d error. I've searched microsoft for it and they say that it's either a HDD , controller or driver error. I'm guessing the driver shouldn't be the problem, seeing as i've installed the same one on another AO, same model, a few days ago, worked fine. The HDD is ok, i've tested it with a number of programs i've found on UBCD.I tried installing the chipset first, then last, updating the BIOS, then moved to a lower BIOS version, AHCI disabled every time (i know that causes problems most of the time). Nothing works.I've googled this any way i could, noone seems to have this problem. If it is the controller, is there any way i can test for it?I can't just leave it like this, the SMBus controller doesn't have any driver installed and it's crap to work on. It freezes a lot, even if i don't actually use it, just moving the mouse a little faster kills it. And i kinda have a deadline to get it done, it's for a customer.Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
cluberti Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 First, welcome to the forums .Second, are you sure it's a 0x7D bugcheck? If so, that would indicate that Windows doesn't find enough memory installed in the system to boot, and given installing chipset drivers seem to cause the problem I'm wondering about those drivers and your motherboard's actual chipset, and whether they're compatible or not.
