loading map create 6 on vista

I am trying to load Map Create 6 onto my new computer. Vista won't accept the software, has anyone successfully loaded this software?

Seems like this is software from a company called Lowrance, and the first version they have (and it requires a post-install patch) that works on Vista is MapCreate 7. 6.3.282 is reported to "work", as long as you run the installer *and* the resulting application in Windows XP compatibility mode. You may also have to completely disable UAC to actually even get it installed, and the USB MMC reader software driver it installs appears to be the main problem in compatibility (it's not Vista compatible). That's all I can tell from using Google.
