jamiemsurf Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Hey everyone,I've got a question about setting up networks with windows XP. We are using a peer to peer network running Windows XP Professional. After disabling "simple file sharing" and using the security tab to set permissions, is it possible to set the permissions for a remote user (working from a remote computer on the network) to access the local computer? Setting the permissions on the local computer for a local user is no problem but we do not seem to be able to set the permissions for a remote user. Thanks,JM
cluberti Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 You can only set permissions on local accounts in a workgroup setting. The only way to emulate this is to make sure the user has the same user/pass on both machines. Otherwise, you need a domain.
