sam73 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 (edited) Hi everyone,New here ....... I found this site while researching a wifi usb adapter compatibility problem. This same problem has been discussed before on this forum and I am wondering if anyone might have some new input.I have a Ralink 802.11b\g USB WiFi adapter which works just fine on my other two computers using XP and Vista. On my old trustworthy IBM Aptiva with Win 98SE, the adapter is behaving very similar to what was experienced by other members. This unit was advertised to be 98SE compatible.I am totally up to date re my 98SE OS upgrades (downloaded the auto patch and MSI WLAN software programs recommended here). The information listed under driver device properties shows the card installed and a long list of drivers deposited into the windows system file which I confirmed were there via Explore but I get code 10 and freezing when I plug the adapter into the USB slot. I feel I am very close but maybe missing one critical driver which is not native to my system. It's not like I am out a lot of bucks with this adapter ($10 internet buy, free shipping) but I guessI am just stubborn and would like to figure out how to make it work.Anyone have any thoughts like maybe a tweak to the inf file.Thx in advance.......sam73 Edited November 18, 2009 by sam73
