frozzymm Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Hello all, I've got a weird problem that I have not been able to fix using my own abilities so here I am. Scoured Google with no luck as well. Thanks for any help/input in advance!The problem: Windows 7 Home Premium Explorer.exe crashes on right-click, closing an explorer window, opening and then closing the start menu. Sometimes it works as advertised, sometimes not. I checked my event log and found that the following 3 errors correspond to the explorer crashes, though they never all appear at the same time:+ System - Provider [ Name] Application Error - EventID 1000 [ Qualifiers] 0 Level 2 Task 100 Keywords 0x80000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2009-10-26T13:58:28.000000000Z EventRecordID 3499 Channel Application Computer * Security - EventData explorer.exe 6.1.7600.16404 4a765771 SHELL32.dll 6.1.7600.16385 4a5be054 c0000005 00000000001bf1be e24 01ca564354c4131f C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\Windows\system32\SHELL32.dll a29d5925-c237-11de-90bc-00269e44618c + System - Provider [ Name] Application Error - EventID 1000 [ Qualifiers] 0 Level 2 Task 100 Keywords 0x80000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2009-10-26T13:59:23.000000000Z EventRecordID 3502 Channel Application Computer * Security - EventData explorer.exe 6.1.7600.16404 4a765771 ntdll.dll 6.1.7600.16385 4a5be02b c000041d 0000000000051da0 290 01ca5644673a60c8 C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll c3409e30-c237-11de-90bc-00269e44618c + System - Provider [ Name] Application Error - EventID 1000 [ Qualifiers] 0 Level 2 Task 100 Keywords 0x80000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2009-10-26T13:59:32.000000000Z EventRecordID 3505 Channel Application Computer * Security - EventData explorer.exe 6.1.7600.16404 4a765771 msvcrt.dll 7.0.7600.16385 4a5bdfbe c000041d 0000000000001221 e28 01ca5644879aff4b C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\Windows\system32\msvcrt.dll c8b38490-c237-11de-90bc-00269e44618c
MagicAndre1981 Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 could you create dumps of the crashes and post them here, so that people like cluberti can took a look at them.
frozzymm Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 This has been fixed by backing up the documents in the username I was using, deleting the username, restarting, and creating a new username. My wife's username was not experiencing the problem(which should have clued me in in the first place.) Thanks MagicAndre1981.
