Slipstreaming Windows XP Upgrade

Recommended Posts

I want to install a clean Windows XP Pro installation onto my laptop. I bought the XP Pro upgrade since the laptop only came with the Home version and it is this I'm using to build my installation disk.

I successfully slipstreamed SP3 and the drivers into my installer and used LPInstaller to create a USB to run the installer from (since the laptop's optical drive no longer works).

The problem I have is that because it is an upgrade disk I'm using I am asked to insert the disk I am upgrading from however with the optical drive not working I can't do this. Is there a way I could include the necessary XP Home files with my Pro installation so it doesn't ask for the XP Home disk.

Or is there any way to make setup look in a location other than the installation drive. I have plenty of space left on the USB key where I could copy the XP Home files onto if I could direct setup to look there instead of the drive it is running from.
