hi allz!

i have been facing a problem for quite a large period of time in the past and i did tried to eak out any solution from internet but i was disappointed.....

now i m running a PC with 2 windows i.e., xp and vista. Right now they are working and booting alright but if i will reinstall xp or try to repair xp, the entry for vista in bootmanager will disappear...

now my question is that is there any software by the use of which i cud backup my MBR and restore if something ironic occurs????

i always install win xp in C: and vista in D:

i also have tried vistabootpro and BCDedit but i have found both useless(as far as my case is concerned)...

PLZZZ help me out.....any help will be much appreciated..

thanx.

That's because XP overwrites the new Vista bootloader. Once you've got XP installed and repaired, you'll need to repair the Vista bootloader as well to get BCD back. There's a sticky about how to do this right at the top of this Vista section itself, so I suggest you search the forums next time.

Did you not read my post at all? As cluberti pointed out, XP will overwrite the MBR if you install them backwards.

Now, for any easy solution, download EasyBCD and fix it, then backup your MBR.

For a manual solution, ready the sticky at the top about installing XP after Vista.
